I was absolutely horrified to read that the council is planning to spend £250,000 on a green laser to improve the image of Southampton.

Southampton citizens trust the council to make logical and intelligent decisions on how to spend money from SEEDA.

The Southampton partnership involved in this decision making include highly respected top professionals from health, education, police to name but a few.

Would these people agree to spend £250,000 on a green laser if this was their own money?

Could the partnership not have considered putting a letter in the Daily Echo suggesting public feedback on this idea would be appreciated via e-mail/letter before the proposal got to this stage?

Think of the time/money that could have been saved if the public response was not in favour of the proposal.

I am sure that even local school children would have more logical solutions on the best way to spend £250,000 to improve the image of Southampton.

They would perhaps be shocked to discover this sum may be spent on beams of laser light that Southampton residents had not been consulted on. Children need to learn about how to manage money wisel. Is this partnership proposal really a good example?

Come on, Southampton Partnership, let us know if there is money to be spent. Ask our opinion and involve us!
