HOW appropriate that your feature on the revamp of Romsey’s Church Street to make it pedestrian-friendly should be accompanied by a photograph showing at least three vehicles partially blocking the pavements.
Motor vehicles dominate our lives, even in rural towns and cities.
When Shaftesbury went through the same process a few years ago the first thing done was to abolish the zebra crossing in the main street, on the basis that it would become a shared resource.
Motorists do not accept such an idea and inevitably pedestrians in Romsey will also be worse off.
