IS it not bizarre that Public Health England (PHE), as successor to the now defunct Southampton Strategic Health Authority (SSHA), remains inclined to have fluoride added to the local public water supply?
This is compulsory massmedication in an area which has already stated that it does not want it: the process is unethical.
Surely it would make more sense to use the money to target primary schoolchildren and teach them how to care for their own teeth.
Unfortunately, I shall not be able to make the public debate to be held on Saturday, October 4, c/o Southampton Solent University, but I do wonder if PHE will dare to send a representative.
MICHAEL FIELDING, Winchester.
