AS reported by the Daily Echo, the Liberal Democrats have postponed their decision on the Laser Gateway and also the travellers' transit site.

This postponement has been caused by the Lib Dems panicking that the wrong decision will cost them votes at the local elections.

This is a blatant attempt by Councillor Adrian Vinson and his colleagues to save their jobs. They have allowed their own concerns (keeping their jobs) above the concerns of the local people. The very local people they are elected to represent.

UKIP Southampton believes that the transit site decision should be made by the local residents it will affect in the form of a local referendum.

We also believe that the council should come clean about the funding of the Laser Gateway.

The local Liberal Democrats have been busy telling us that we are not funding the Laser Gateway and that the full funding is coming from SEEDA.

What the Lib Dems have failed to inform local residents is that SEEDA is funded by the EU from money paid to it by the British taxpayer.

UKIP Southampton is the only party who listens and acts on the views of the local residents.
