WE are all aware of the intricacies of politics and we are also well aware no two parties normally have the same ideas or outlook.
Glen Maney (letters 18 May) has pointed out the difference his “Liberal” party is compared with the Lib-Dems, (Chalk and Cheese?).
On the other hand however Richard Grant, in the same edition seems to think it may be a good thing to drop the “Democrat” part of his party’s name (and rightly so!), we would then have two “Liberal” parties with totally opposing ideas or manifestos, this of course would not be legal or feasible.
I am surprised that the Liberals have somewhat the same idea as Ukip of exiting the EU, plus the non-privatisation of the NHS and abolishment of university fees for British students among other thing, so maybe they could strike an agreement with the Lib-Dems, form one large party and instil into them some (Democratic), Euro-sceptic outlooks.
Ukip would then consider taking them all under it’s wing.
What a beautiful thought, never to happen of course, so I’ll dream on.
