THE case of Mr Joginder ‘Jiggy’ Kooner demonstrates the unfairness and hypocrisy of our immigration laws.
Although this man has lived and worked in Southampton since the 1960s and has two British-born children, he is now threatened with deportation to India, by a Home Office jobsworth, due to a lapsed permit.
Contrast this with the recent case of a young Iranian man who was here illegally and had been convicted of killing a little girl by careless driving, yet he was allowed to stay in Britain.
Why? Because he’d fathered a child and had ‘rights to a family life’.
It is precisely this sort of nonsense, upheld by the European judiciary, that helped many voters to select ‘Leave’.
