I am writing with reference to the article Spitfire Decision Still Waiting in the Wings (Daily Echo, July 23), The Spitfire played such an important part in the country's history and the city should be proud of it. It should certainly be given a place in the city centre were it could be seen by local residents as well as visitors from the rest of the UK and from abroad.
The other suggestions put forward for the use of the money do not have the same importance. The display of that marvellous plane would be an assett to the city centre.
