Your correspondent, who didn’t give us the benefit of his name, in today’s edition regarding parking in Hill Lane, doesn’t seem to realise that Southampton Common, is common land to be shared by all.
He or she doesn’t seem to realise that some people live a long way from this area.
Some aren’t fit enough to make it to the Common.
By not supplying parking facilities you deprive certain people of the right of exercise.
He/she infers that only people that live within touching distance of the Common can use it.
I live near the sports centre and am fortunate to have green grass nearby.
Visitors who come here park anywhere it seems, grass banks included.
I wouldn’t make it up hill to the Common.
