IT'S NOT that I'm against the introduction of new cycle lanes, but there must be a common sense approach to road safety and the environment.

I played golf at the Southampton Municipal Course and I finished my round, about 17:15.

I didn't find it too difficult to join the Avenue, from Golf Course Road, as there is a pedestrian crossing close by.

My problem was driving back down the avenue, as I needed to use the Chilworth roundabout.

It was chaotic, as you had traffic coming off the M3, so you had a tail back.

Once you manage to get on to the Avenue, it has two lanes, which go into one lane, about three hundred metres along.

So you had drivers trying to get into the right hand lane.

Drivers were getting anxious and angry, as people were trying to gain advantage.

The traffic management is a joke, as usual, nobody is really bothered about it. Its just a free for all.
