SIMON Watson criticised the Extinction Rebellion protesters' actions outside the newspaper print works.

The protesters were trying to highlight how most of the popular newspapers do not report the climate emergency in a fair and balanced way.

They are pretty sure that this is not the fault of the reporting staff who would probably be delighted to write freely about the subject.

Unfortunately the multi-millionaire owners of these newspapers do not allow their editors the press freedom that Simon speaks up for.

His description of the protesters as extremists and his attempt to discredit a Labour MP suggest a political motive rather than a desire for truth and honesty.

When we are wringing our hands about rising temperatures and sea levels, history will look back fondly on climate protesters but billionaire, tax avoiding media tycoons will not be seen in a very good light
