IN response to the letter by Stephen Fennerty. I too would like to wish Bitterne Park infants and juniors good luck in their quest to obtain a school field. I am both a user of riverside park and a parent of two small children and I think it's a fabulous idea.
Our children do not have the freedom to play outside as we did and when we do use the park they still cannot run freely as many dogs are fouling the grass areas or running around knocking the little ones over or worse still attacking them.
So at least at school playtimes they will be able to enjoy the grassed area and as a bonus I will save a fortune in school trousers as they aren't as likely to rip as they do on the concrete play area they currently have.
