YET again Southampton City Council is proposing cutting library services across the city.
Once more Cobbett Road Library is being targeted in spite of a successful campaign last year. The list of the proposed cuts involves everything that gives some quality of life to the inhabitants of Southampton, but in particular the elderly and disabled who rely on groups to allow them to get out and socialise instead of staying at home and mouldering away.
At the same time the council is proposing spending millions of pounds on their wretched light show (now involving a bronze of the Spitfire). What does the council propose to do with the libraries once they have reduced their hours to nothing? Build yet more flats!
