NOT a day passes when there is a letter defending the actions of speeding motorists. When are these people going to wake up and realise that travelling above the speed limit is breaking the law?
If you do not want to pay the penalty fines, then don't speed. Driving too fast in any situation, is placing the lives of innocent people to a great deal of unnecessary risk, that's the reason for speed limits.
Personally, I would replace all of those highly visible fixed cameras, (which people accuse of being revenue raisers) with mobile systems, moved daily to new locations where drivers CHOOSE to ignore the law.
The deterrent required, is the introduction of a automatic driving ban for a second speeding offence in a prescribed time period, forcing the incompetent driver to uphold the law rather than treat it as an infringement of their human rights.
