HOORAY! What terrific news! Our lovely medieval walls are to be lit up, and subtly too, highlighting all their best features. The illumination of the Bargate has proved very successful, and has really enhanced our beloved emblem. I am sure the same will be the case when the walls and other historic buildings are lit.
Simon Watkinson has done a magnificent job on Holy Rood church and Merchant Navy memorial, and I have no doubt he will do the same for the walls. They deserve it, and so do we. My 87-year-old mother's reaction was and about time too!' I'm really looking forward to the future night time panorama: that really will be WOW!
