As the Taliban now control Afghanistan we can expect the growth of opium [heroin] to hit the streets in the west.

The Gostan Valley, Niruz Province will be producing vast amounts of opium, unhindered by western influence.

It’s sad to think that both the UK and USA are endeavouring to go carbon neutral and there is a shortage of materials in the world to help make this possible apart from Afghanistan which sits on $1trillion in sought-after minerals which are in short supply.

Had we not abandoned Afghanistan to the Taliban we could have had a trade deal to buy these valuable elements and the country would have become financially self-sufficient and foreign aid would have become a thing of the past.

Alas, it’s all water under the bridge.
