I HAVE been reading the comments about the Spitfire monument. Of course the only place for it is up in the air. What a magnificent sight it would be and a wonderful memorial to R J Mitchell and to those brave airmen who flew it.

A museum or exhibition on the ground, including the beautiful flying coat, would make us very proud.

This should bring crowds of people to the site which should be high and open.

It brings back memories of watching dog fights in the sky and the sound of its engine brought people out to see it.

Hopefully it will be sorted out shortly.
