I FOUND David Haisman's letter (January 3), about the Dr Who Christmas special, frustrating.
While I appreciate that the sinking of Titanic was a tragic event almost a century ago, the episode was so far removed from reality that links between the two were superficial at best.
As Mr Haisman wrote, it was highly publicised so it was clear months before broadcast that it would feature a ship similar to Titanic. Knowing this, wouldn't it have simply been easier for him to avoid watching it altogether?
Also, if he didn't watch the episode then he wouldn't know that the ship in Dr Who was a spaceship piloted by aliens that was hit by asteroids, which certainly can't be said of Titanic.
So why not let those who want to watch it just enjoy it for what it is - a harmless bit of fun?
