The empty shelves in our supermarkets and the petrol crisis is because of Brexit.
It’s happening nowhere else in Europe. And it’s ridiculous to suggest otherwise. It’s a British thing.
We left the EU, told EU nationals they weren’t welcome here, we made it harder for them to work here, and we brought in rules meaning that it’d cost them more to work here.
And surprise surprise many EU workers went back home.
Now the UK is desperately begging EU lorry drivers to come back with an unattractive offer of a few months visa.
It’s going to take more than that to encourage EU workers back to the UK.
The UK needs to offer a long term or open ended visa. We should welcome EU citizens with open arms. We need our friends across the channel to keep our hospitals running and our lorries on the road.
