AM I dreaming? I hope so after reading the report headlined Motorway Into the Heart of Southampton (Daily Echo, January 21) Years ago thousands fought off the Portswood link motorway, which was finally killed off by the inspectorate. Who led the fight valiantly, charging very little for his barrister skills? Our present council leader Alec Samuels. I have always admired him for this. What is his opinion I wonder? What happened to saving the planet?
Cutting pollution? Public transport? What indeed? Why are these plans secret?
I can imagine why a motorway into the city with all its destructive potential might indeed be kept secret for fear of huge opposition. Other plans sound good but what will the priority be?
