B JONES (Letters, March 15) complained about the condition of the relaid pavements in Shirley.
We will be happy to investigate this and we thank Mr Jones for bringing this to our attention.
In regards to the scheduling of roadworks, we make every effort to keep disruption to residents and motorists to a minimum.
We are currently investing a huge amount of money into improving the road network in Southampton and have brought forward our highways maintenance programme to make best use of its contracting resources and ensure its commitment to improve roads is met in the most cost effective way.
We are sorry for any inconvenience but once all the work is completed residents and users will benefit enormously from much safer, sustainable and quieter roads.
MICK BISHOP, head of highways and parking, Southampton City Council.
