SADLY, I had to attend the funeral of my grandmother at Southampton Crematorium on May 9.
I live in Lincolnshire so also had to endure a rather long and hot drive to reach Netley Abbey, my grandmother's home, to travel with the funeral cortege.
I didn't know the area very well so was nervous about following the cortege in case I lost sight of the hearse due to traffic lights and junctions.
I was, however, so impressed by the courtesy of many local drivers who waited for the hearse and the following five cars to pass them. They also waited at junctions to allow us to pass as one.
I thank the drivers who waited and let us through - you helped a sad day pass off well.
