THE last thing I wish on anyone is to lose their jobs. But the reality is, you can not keep pumping money into Ford or any other motor company, when there are few buyers for the finished product. We are in recession, people are not going to rush out to buy a new car nor firms, a new van or lorry. MONEY IS TIGHT.

I have for decades said that new cars should be built with a dynamo behind each wheel and solar panelled body parts. Surely that it possible if we had an imaginative Government, i.e., they should have backed and saved MG/Rover and we could have been world leaders in non polluting transport including buses. But no!

We are heading for a massive meltdown in all directions and we have to accept that, but be optimistic by looking forward to a new era, one without so much greed and dishonesty.

The future is not in IT; It is in ‘hands on’, working with the environment and that has to be in part, crop farming, more craftsmen making quality items such as furniture. Houses that are individual in design do not arrive on the back of a lorry.

Britain use to be a world leader and somewhere we lost faith in ourselves and presumed that foreign goods are better, when in a lot of cases, they are just cheap and tacky.

We have to also remember we are but a small island and need the EU, as they are our immediate potential buyers/exporters.

Some say that it could take until 2015 before we see signs of recovery, I am not that pessimistic but we do need to get the 2012 Olympics out of the way. In the meantime, we should be manufacturing and growing our own products and cut down on transportation costs and ruining the environment.

And before anyone says, “Oh it is all right for him’’. No it is not.

I am living on nothing, not even benefits (long story, but a fact of life).
