REPORTER James Maden has written an extremely positive piece about his great day out at Go Ape. I understand how much fun he had as I have been several times myself.

His description of his wonderful experience has an electronic vote counter underneath it asking whether people want such a place.

As a local paper The Daily Echo views readers opinions as important and that’s a great thing. However, how can you have a meaningful vote if the article above the counter does not present the argument for and against? Instead it is simply 100 per cent positive about the Go Ape experience.

That situation is simply asking people to vote whether fun is a good thing or not! Anyone with any real issues about protecting public green space just sounds like they are trying to spoil the fun.

Go Ape will impact on most of the woodland and entry is about £45 for one adult and a child. Go Ape should be seeking private and we should preserve the public park for everyone so that local familes can walk in their woods for free.

If you look at savepollockpark.com you will see another side to this story.

In the interests of balanced reporting, particularly when asking readers to vote on an issue, I would hope the Echo can present the alternative aspects of this important debate.
