RE “Biggest Royal Wedding Street Party” Newcombe Road, Southampton as featured in the Daily Echo, May 2.

Firstly, I find it strange that Southampton City Council gave permission to hold a street party in Newcombe Road which is on a city bus route.

Secondly, this was clearly not a properly organised street party but just an excuse for a boozy loud music uncontrolled party with no respect to many residents and those in neighbouring streets.

It was reported that council workmen took at least three hours to clean up the mess following this particular street party.

I feel that the clean-up cost involved in this instance should be passed onto the registered organizers of this street party and not be borne by the public purse!

I hope that in future Southampton City Council learn from this and ensure that clean-up costs are part of the condition to hold a future street party.
