WE would like to say a big thank you to everyone who was involved in our 90th carnival celebrations in Hedge End and especially those people who took part in the procession, including the many people who lined the streets, making all the efforts worthwhile.

It was a tremendous success and we raised lots of money for the Hedge End community.

We would also like to thank the people who took part in the events on Greta Park, both in the arena and on the stalls during the afternoon when the sun shone brightly, and to all those who watched, not forgetting those who attended all carnival events in the week leading up to the Saturday.

Thanks to the Daily Echo, especially Simon Carr (who now has gone to sunnier climes, I believe) for helping us find two lovely 90-year-old ladies to be our VIPs for the day. We believe they enjoyed the day as much as we loved having them.

Thanks also to our carnival court, who did a splendid job.

Long may Hedge End Carnival continue and we look forward to next year’s and all the ones leading to our centenary.

If anyone is interested in being involved or joining our committee to help, we are a very friendly group of people and meet on the fourth Thursday of the month (not August) in Hedge End Village Hall at 7.30pm.
