IN SUPPORT of Geoff Holly’s letter dated February 9, I totally agree with his comments.
Liverpool is an interesting, lively and friendly city, I am a Southampton man and my wife comes from Liverpool. We often visit Liverpool and always have a great time, whether on our own or with family. Southampton, instead of trying to undermine Liverpool, should listen and learn from the ‘Scousers’.
You offer nothing in comparison. Your high street at night is sad and intimidating, uninviting to say the least. As for the seafront, the approach the foughtover cruise ships see is a burnt out pier and commercial docks. How inviting. I bet most of the visiting passengers jump on a coach and head out of town for their sightseeing whereas in Liverpool they stay in the city. Instead of fighting the winning team, work with them and learn.
PM, Southampton.
