AS usual during the recent halfterm school holiday, we wondered what to do with two grandchildren.
After going to most of the annual attractions locally, we were not too sure if Tudor House was open after several years visiting only to find it shut for refurbishments.
When finally arriving in old Southampton to see the area looking spick and span and Tudor House open, we obtained a £12 family ticket and a monitor each and shown to a large reception room. To our astonishment we were treated to eerie ghost sounds of spirits talking about our visit.
After about 15 minutes of explaining about Tudor House and how to use our monitors we proceeded on the marked route explaining the history of the house, Southampton and the people who lived there.
The whole experience we found fascinating and the children loved it. The final episode was to travel into the cellar and witness an air raid with a family in 1942.
We congratulate all concerned for a nine-year redevelopment of this beautiful old house. Well done Southampton. Real value.
