AS many commuters to Southampton will be aware ,the A35 westbound carriageway gets completely blocked up when the container box lorries exit the docks on their way to the M271 during rush hour periods. The traffic backs up as far back as Millbrook.
On a normal night when there are no box container lorries about the A35 road flows quite freely.
Therefore in the interests of all would it not be possible for a restriction during rush hour periods for the box container lorries. After all if they exited the docks outside of rush hour periods they would themselves have a quicker exit and get onto the motorway without holdup.
This would also be an improvement to the environment if the traffic was allowed to flow freely.
