A 46-YEAR-old Bradford man has been jailed for ten months after driving dangerously at more than double the speed limit as a police car pursued him.

Ansar Hussain, of Heidelberg Road, off Toller Lane, admitted dangerous driving during an incident on July 7.

Bradford Crown Court heard that Hussain had been driving a silver VW Golf and had failed to stop for officers earlier in the evening.

Just before 11pm, Hussain was spotted near Emm Lane in Heaton and as a police vehicle attempted to block him in, Hussain reversed into the car before making off on Keighley Road.

Prosecutor Robert Yates said Hussain then travelled towards Shipley at speeds of 70mph in a 30 zone, running a number of red lights and travelling on the wrong side of the road.

Lorraine Harris for Hussain said he accepted driving aggressively and dangerously, but that he panicked and was ashamed of his actions.

He was also banned from driving for two years.
