HOW Venky’s must wish they could put the clock back 18 months and start their Blackburn Rovers era all over again.

This summer is seeing a major reshuffle behind the scenes as they look to restore order to a club that has been in chaos almost ever since they took charge.

The need for more structure was without a doubt a necessity but Venky’s will know deep down they were the ones who created the problem in the first place.

Those close to Mrs Desai believe she knows the biggest mistake she has made was letting the likes of John Williams, Tom Finn, Martin Goodman and Andrew Pincher leave the club.

Without getting into the bizarre managerial decision to sack Sam Allardyce and replace him with the rookie Steve Kean - few would argue that the loss of so much experience behind the scenes has been their biggest downfall.

It is important to note Shebby Singh spoke well as he made his bow as ‘global advisor. It is up to Venky’s to deliver still though because until they do, words are empty.

We have heard it all before about decent budgets being available and good signings being made. NOW is the time they made it a reality.

Fans will be cynical and they have every right to be. How many times do people want to tell them ‘exciting times are ahead’? We will see soon if the latest raft of promises will become reality. We all have yet to be convinced.

Ever since Venky’s take over, they have been fighting a losing battle and in the process have messed with good people’s lives.

Spare a thought for Anthony Bloch. He left a good job at Everton to become Rovers’ secretary and just a year later finds himself out of a job again - it would be nice for someone to explain why to him.

The same goes for Paul Hunt. He left Leicester City to become deputy chief executive at Ewood Park only to be quickly dismissed. These are the people they employed.

Many others have been forced to leave the club - including Simon Williams and John Newsham - and you just feel these good, honest people have deserved more respect.

The only real loyalty the owners have shown so far is to manager Steve Kean. I don’t understand that, like most others, but it is the facts.

Rovers’ Premier League relegation certainly was not down to the guys who have either been sacked or left.

The owners have to take full reponsibility because it has been their decisions, their dithering and their lack of football acumen that has seen the club drop.

Hopefully this time their appointments work. Hopefully Shebby Singh makes an impact as a global advisor. Hopefully Ian Silvester is a great club secretary. Hopefully Paul Agnew is a good general manager.

These guys will know their success depends on Venky’s though. Unless they change their approach , nothing will change.

Let them get on with the jobs they have been appointed into and we can see what they are made of.

The problem in the past is everyone has been powerless to make a difference to the club because of the way Venky’s have run it.

Singh & co deserve a chance. It would not be fair of me to comment on them without that.

How Singh and Kean will work together is going to be interesting. He at least saw, like everyone else has done, that the manager is leading a charmed life.

This is a man who called for Kean to be sacked just a month ago - an interesting dynamic.
