“The venue changes annually and this year the ceremony will be held on College Field.”

The event is expected to bring visitors to Penryn from all over the world, Miss Davey said, and up to 250 bards will be processing through the town in their robes for the ceremony, creating a “spectacular sight”.

In preparation for the main event the Gorsedh will be holding their proclamation ceremony on Saturday, April 13.

Approximately 50 Bards will be processing from the town hall in their robes from 10.45am to the Memorial Gardens, where a short ceremony will be held at 11am.

“This is a great opportunity to get a flavour of the main event,” Miss Davey said, “In the week leading up to the Gorsedh ceremony there will be various events in Penryn celebrating all aspects of Cornish culture.”
