Ritchie Jones will put himself forward for penalties tonight despite his Arsenal miss.

The midfielder’s shoot-out effort was saved by Wojciech Szczesny in last week’s dramatic victory.

But Jones is happy to step up and take his chance again when the next 12-yard challenge crops up.

He said: “I’ve woken up every morning and thought about that penalty and what I should have done differently.

“It’s the first I’ve missed for a long time and it didn’t look great. I changed my mind and thought the keeper was going to dive the other way.

“But it’s not put me off and I’ll definitely want to step up and take another one if the gaffer picks me.

“The best thing for me to do is to take one as soon as another shoot-out comes along.

“If it means taking the first one, I’m not bothered.”

Jones, at 26, will be one of City’s old heads at Brentford – a role he is unfamiliar with.

“I’m used to being one of the youngest ones so time soon passes. It’s a bit scary!

“But it’s a good game and another one we want to win. It’s also a chance for the young players to show what they can do with no pressure on them.

“As one of the older ones, it’s my job to make sure they are comfortable and help them through the game.

“The main thing is to be nice and positive then they’ll be fine.”

City will certainly start underdogs against Uwe Rosler’s League One high-fliers, who moved level on points with leaders Tranmere after winning 2-1 at Notts County on Saturday.

Manningham-born Clayton Donaldson, who scored in the first game at Valley Parade, netted the late winner with his 14th goal of the season.
