The Haberdashers Askes Boys School U19s Water Polo team travelled to Sedford to play in the finals of the Schools Water Polo League recently.
In their semi-final they were pitted against London Oratory School. Habs took control from the first whistle, and in the opening period of play Michael Harris scored three quick goals.
After the interval, Jeremy Seef added one more goal to the Habs total, before London Oratory opened their tally. Habs continued to show authority over the game and ran out 8-2 victors.
In the final they were against Trinity School, Croydon, who had knocked Habs out of the National Champioships by earlier in the season.
Habs were able to hold out for most of the first period, but conceded two goals before half-time. In the second half Habs launched several serious attacks on the Trinity goal, but succeeded only in hitting the cross-bar and the upright.
Stout defensive work by Ben Fox and Lee Ezpinoza, and Michael Harris in goal, kept Trinity down to scoring only two further goals. When Habs failed to score in an open goal, and had a legitimate claim for a penalty turned down, it was clear that they were not going to gain revenge for their defeat in the Nationals.
Trinity deservedly won 4-0.
HABS: John Beardwoth (captain), Andrew Garland(vice-captain), Michael Harris (goal), Michael Harris, Jeremy Seef, Lee Ezpinoza, Ben Fox, Ben Pullman, Adam Kalmanson.
