A WINDFARM at East Heslerton could inject up to £23 million into the local economy, the business behind the plans has said.
RWE npower renewables has applied to Ryedale District Council to build a ten-turbine wind farm at the village, between Malton and Scarborough.
The company made the claim after a Government study looked into the economic benefits associated with onshore wind farm development.
Based on the findings of the report, during the construction of East Heslerton Wind Farm, contracts worth more than £6 million could be placed with firms in the North Yorkshire region.
Over the lifetime of the proposed wind farm, a further £17 million of contracts for the operation and maintenance of the project could be awarded.
