A CENTENARIAN will join the Carnival King and Queen in an open top car as part of a much-anticipated procession through Pershore.

The Journal reported on the 100th birthday of Evelyn Jones in February and she is being honoured by playing a starring role in the Pershore Carnival procession which will kick-off the event on Bank Holiday Monday, May 27.

She will be joined by King Wesley Blight and Queen Mia Richards in the car as part of the procession which has a theme of Pershore Through the Ages. Schools, community groups and individuals will also have their own floats.

The procession leaves Pershore Town Football Club at about 1pm and will make its way through the town to Abbey Park where a host of activities and events will be staged throughout the afternoon.

In an added bonus this year a music concert featuring three bands will take place at the park from 7pm.
