BURNLEY historian Ken Spencer has asked readers’ help in identifying this former paperseller.
The old chap, wearing his Clarets scarf, used to sell the Burnley Evening Star at the corner of Parker Lane and St James’s Street.
Ken took the snap around 1980 but knows the man has since died, at Whiteacres care home.
Ken is keen to include him in two thus-far, unpublished scripts he is working on, titled A Galaxy of Characters and Two hundred Burnley Firsts and Lasts’.
Said Ken: “ I wonder if any readers know this man, who is of particular interest to me?
“He would qualify for entry into both my scripts, both as a local character and as, probably, the last town-centre newspaper seller.”
