ONE of Britain's biggest builders has embarked on the next stage of its plan to provide 85 homes on a former market garden site in a Hampshire village.

Taylor Wimpey UK Ltd is seeking consent to redevelop almost seven acres of land at Brook Lane, Warsash - one of the several sites in the area that could be used for housing.

An outline application has already been approved by Fareham Borough Council.

Now Taylor Wimpey has submitted a more detailed proposal, which will also have to be given the green light before work can start.

The application says the site is currently overgrown.

It adds: "Taylor Wimpey have prepared a reserved matters application to provide details of layout, scale, appearance and landscaping proposals, access having been previously approved."

The application says Taylor Wimpey has commissioned "detailed survey work" to assess the impact of the scheme.

It adds: "Taylor Wimpey have consulted Fareham Borough Council and Hampshire County Council to discuss and develop the proposals with the aim of ensuring a high quality development.

"Taylor Wimpey has also met with local residents and councillors to share ideas, discuss any concerns and reflect on the evolving masterplan."

The scheme is outlined in a Public Notice published by the borough council, which will determine the latest application.
