HUNDREDS of people took part in a charity run in aid of the Royal British Legion.
The city’s second annual Poppy Run took place on Southampton Common as Hampshire prepares to mark 100 years since the end of the First World War.
Athletes from across the Solent area converged on the Common for the 5k race – one of ten such events in the UK.
They included Claire Allard, a 45-year-old project manager from Marchwood, who said she wanted to help commemorate the centenary.
About 600 runners and walkers took part in the event, including a large number of children.
They set off after a warm-up session led by the race mascot, Dave the Bear.
