A MAN has been arrested by police investigating a crash in which a woman motorist was killed.

Officers were called to Down End Road, Fareham, in the early hours of last Thursday following reports of a single-vehicle accident.

A 21-year-old woman from Fareham was fatally injured in the incident.

Police later appealed for information about a Ford Transit van that was seen in the area at around the time of the collision.

On Saturday police announced that the driver of the van, a 29-year-old man from Cosham, had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A police spokesman said: "He has since been released from custody but remains under investigation.

"We would like to thank you for the information we have received, and to all the people who shared our appeal. However we continue to appeal for any witnesses to make contact with the police.

"Were you in the area at the time? Perhaps you have dash-cam footage or CCTV that could assist us?"
