A TEENAGER taking part in a TikTok challenge has been branded "idiotic" by firefighters after becoming trapped in a child's swing.

A crew from Hightown fire station was sent to a park in Turnpike Way, Hedge End, and spent nearly an hour cutting the girl free.

TikTok is a popular video app that allows people to film short clips of themselves and their friends and upload them to their accounts.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service has been called out several times to free people trying to film themselves using children's swings.

Following the latest incident Hightown firefighters took to Twitter, posting pictures of the rescues and criticising the teenager.

They said: "We don't normally judge anyone at the calls we go to. However, getting stuck in a child's swing whilst filming a TikTok is just plain stupid.

"This idiotic behaviour has tied up a truck for nearly an hour, preventing it from attended other calls."

Hampshire Fire Control tweeted: "Yet another TikTok call for a person stuck in a swing! It is not clever. Please use appropriate-sized swings for your age!"

Similar incidents have occurred in parks in Cosham and fire crews across the country have urged teens not to attempt the challenge.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service tweeted: "If you are over the age of four, please don't try and get in one!"

At the beginning of this month Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We know how popular TikTok is at the moment but can we please advise people NOT to partake in a current craze of getting in to toddler swings!

"Cosham are en route to release yet another teen who has become stuck."
