PLANNING chiefs in the New Forest have seen one of their decisions overturned.
An appeal was lodged after the district council rejected an application to build a single-storey addition to a property at Mayfield Road in Totton.
Now government-appointed planning inspector James Bridgwater has quashed the council's decision.
His report said he accepted that the roof and upper part of the proposed extension would be visible from neighbouring properties.
But it added that the restricted field of vision would reduce the impact of the development, which would not appear overbearing.
There would be "adequate separation and screening" between the extension and neighbouring homes.
"The proposal would not have an unneighbourly or overbearing impact on the outlook from adjoining properties," says the report.
