A PROPOSAL to upgrade a house in a Hampshire town has been withdrawn by the applicant.
New Forest District Council (NFDC) is no longer studying an application to build a single storey extension to a large detached house at West Hayes in Lymington.
Lymington and Pennington Council had urged NFDC to reject the proposal.
In a letter to the authority it said the proposed development would detract from the attractive design of the house and was not in keeping with the character of the area.
The applicants submitted plans to build a new addition and remove an existing conservatory.
The application said: "A modern approach has been taken to achieve a less cluttered and more symmetrical design.
"It is felt that the proposals respond positively to the opportunity to make better use of the site, improve and increase the living space."
