PLANS to enlarge a cottage in a Hampshire town have been thrown out.
New Forest District Council has refused to support an application to build a single-storey extension to the back a property in Lower Buckland Road, Lymington.
A report to members said: "This attractive cottage is of particular importance to the area.
"The property has previously had a somewhat unsympathetic two-storey addition to the rear and the addition of a further single-storey extension set at an awkward angle to the host dwelling would be detrimental to the appearance of the dwelling and the character of the area.
"The proposed front dormer would be disproportionately large on the small roof slope."
