A BUSY Southampton road was closed after a man was seriously injured in a fire at a block of flats.
The A3024 Northam Road was shut in both directions from the junction of Six Dials and Britannia Road, with drivers being urged to take an alternative route.
Shortly after 12.30pm Southampton Travel tweeted an update, saying the road had reopened.
A Hampshire police spokesperson said: "We were called at 10.55am to reports of a fire at an address on Northam Road.
"Officers are on scene to assist our colleagues from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.
"A road closure was put in place to enable them to deal with this incident. It is now being lifted.
"One man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. The fire is not thought to be suspicious at this time."
Crews from three fire stations - Eastleigh, Redbridge and St Mary's - rushed to the scene.
