A DEVELOPER has unveiled plans to build 25 homes in the Hampshire countryside.

Foreman Homes is asking Eastleigh Borough Council for consent to develop a large rectangular site beside Mrytle Cottage in Winchester Road, Botley.

The site is opposite the Macdonald Botley Park Hotel Golf and Country Club.

A design and access statement that forms part of the application says the site is an agricultural smallholding that includes a single building containing two homes, Oak Cottage and Appletree Cottage.

It adds: "The proposed dwelling mix will provide a range of housing types.

"The philosophy behind the design is to create a high quality, sustainable residential development which responds to, and seeks to enhance, existing features in the landscape.

"The external appearance of the new homes will respect the local vernacular without slavishly replicating the surroundings."

The scheme outlined in a Public Notice published by Eastleigh Borough Council.
