STAFF are working hard to cut grass across a Hampshire borough after a period of growth.
Following a cold and wet May followed by warmer weather in June, Eastleigh Borough Council says conditions have been ideal for significant plant growth in the borough.
Over the last two weeks, there is said to have been a growth spurt for greenery as air and ground temperatures rise.
The council says colder conditions during May prevented some areas being mown and as well as this, there was reduced cutting taking place in order to help encourage growth of wildflowers and promote "greater biodiversity".
A council spokesperson said: "We did this on some areas throughout the borough with mixed feedback as some residents would prefer to see the grass cut and others prefer us to not cut it for the benefit of plants and animals.
"Our staff are now working hard to cut the grass across the borough, however, it will take a couple of weeks for our staff to completely catch up, after which, people will see the areas return to the previous standards."
This comes after there were calls for grass to be cut in nearby Southampton after some areas of Millbrook and Redbridge were referred to as starting to look like "a jungle".
