PASSENGERS were left shaken after a Hampshire ferry was damaged in a "heavy berthing" at the end of its cross-Solent journey.
Wightlink's Victoria of Wight vessel was about to dock at Fishbourne on the Isle of Wight when the incident occurred.
The ferry was damaged and taken out of service but Wightlink say there were no reports of serious injuries.
Passengers were making their way back to their vehicles after making the crossing from Portsmouth when the incident occurred.
Wightlink spokesperson said they would be contacting customers who were on board the ferry to "offer support".
A company spokesperson said: "There were 16 crew and 431 passengers on board. While some are undoubtedly shaken, there are no reports of any serious injuries.
"The vehicles on board the ferry when the incident happened have disembarked at Fishbourne.
"Victoria of Wight has returned to Portsmouth. As there is some damage to the prow of the ship, it has been withdrawn from service for inspection."
The incident occurred yesterday afternoon.
