COUNCIL chiefs are waiting for Southern Water to inspect a broken manhole cover on a busy Southampton road.
Millbrook Road West outbound has been reduced to one lane, but the city council says traffic is flowing freely and there are no delays on the approach from Mountbatten Way.
Yesterday motorists were urged to take extra care on the route after the manhole cover collapsed near Paynes Road.
A highways team from Southampton City Council was reported to be on its way to fix the issue.
A council tweet read: "Millbrook Road West outbound has been reduced to 1 lane while we repair a broken manhole cover in lane 1/2. Traffic is flowing freely still and currently no delays on the approach from Mountbatten Way."
Today the council tweeted: "Millbrook Road West outbound has been reduced to 1 lane whilst we wait for Southern Water to attend."
