PLANNING chiefs in the New Forest have seen one of their decisions overturned on appeal.
A government-appointed planning inspector has given A J Developments planning permission to build four three-bedroom houses at Barton Common Lane, Barton on Sea.
The inspector, John Longmuir, said the homes would be set further back than the existing house, making them less conspicuous.
He added: "I note the council’s concerns about overdevelopment and loss of spatial gaps. However, I find the design of the houses would respond appropriately to the context of the
area and the characteristics of the site, more so than the existing building.
"I therefore conclude that the proposal would not harm the character and appearance of the area."
