HEADING to the cricket this summer? Well, now you can do so without all that car parking faff as free shuttle buses are to be put on for fans!

The new service will serve spectators to Hampshire Hawks’ seven Vitality Blast matches at The Ageas Bowl.

The buses will be available from both Hedge End rail station and Southampton Airport Parkway, running before, during and after each T20 match.

Bosses at Hampshire County Cricket Club say they want to make the final leg of fans’ journeys easier, and cheaper.

The service will be in addition to the public buses also running on matchdays, from First Bus and Xelabus.

Greig Stewart, head of customer experience at The Ageas Bowl, said: “Following feedback from members and fans, we are delighted to be able to provide this free service, offering fans a more sustainable travel option while making it even easier and cheaper to get to the ground for Vitality Blast fixtures than ever before.

"We are looking forward to what promises to be a huge summer of Blast at The Ageas Bowl.’’

Last week, major proposals to redevelop the home of Hampshire cricket were revealed – and include plans to build a new 183-home estate.
